I think my server might just have this configuration option set, which is causing the PHPSESSID=d66b01bfda72d452f811a7f324bb9ec0 to be appended to my urls. I should just be able to put the following code in my site to remove that pesky request string. ini_set(use_trans_sid, 0); Then again, it might just be time to find a new web host. Can we say php5 support?

I have got to get my LLC paperwork filed soon. I’ve been sitting on the forms for a little over a month now, waiting on the necessary capital to fall in my lap, and now that its here, I’m not ready.

Let’s be honest. I should have filled out the paperwork as soon as I printed it off the indiana secretary of state website. But instead, i just let it sit on the counter for a couple weeks, and then in my laptop bag in a couple weeks. In fact, I just finished filling out the paperwork 3 days ago. And by paperwork I mean one small page. I should have also made the necessary copies, and stuck it into an envelop, with a stamp, so that all I had to do is drop the check in there, and pop it in the mail.

This sort of inefficiency really agitates me. I realize that I probably have more dreams than the make-a-wish foundation, but my inability to focus and followthrough in a timely manner is really baffling. In other area’s of my life (freelancing and work) I generally have no problem with focus and execution, but when it comes to my own stuff I think my pride and perfectionism takes over. It’s like I’m boycotting my own efforts in order to reduce the amount of failure I might encounter.

In the coming weeks, I am going to try and work on getting things done. My success as an ebusiness entrepreneur depends on it.

Maybe I should have changed the title to “Creating a Network of eBusinesses from Scratch”, but I don’t think the plurality of the matter will change anything.

It’s been one of my dreams for a while to start my own web development company (as well as a coffee shop, real estate business, and a bed & breakfast for my wife). I like the idea of having multiple sources of income, and being able to put away some money for a rainy day. This week I will finally take the plunge and start my web development company: Paniris Web Development. One of my pet projects (Online Christmas Gift List) needs the ability to have a merchant account, as well as a couple other things, and it gave me a good reason to get my company started. Fortunately, my employer is okay with this move (they thought my idea was cool!), and I have a friend/colleage that will act as a mentor.

Anyways, I will be working on my Christmas List website for a couple months (my go-live date is mid august), and after that I have several other business concepts that I just might try out. Reading blogs like Web Junkie and Fun Money Blog makes me realize that guys like myself can make some good money with a few good ideas, and lots of dedication.

I found out today that chattablogs does allow posting via xml-rpc (which is great!), but unfortunately WordPressDash cannot post to it, despite MoveableType and WordPress using the same API. 

In other development news, I’ve been working on providing support for posting to multiple categories(because that seems to be a pretty important feature request), but my code is bombing out after the first category is set.  There are only 2 reasons this would happen:

1. My code is off.  Perhaps I’m clearing some variables or not successfully iterating through the full category array.
2. Their code is off. Maybe the API will only allow 1 category to be set per post.  That would really suck…  If that is the case, I might have to get in touch with WordPress to fix this, or offer an altered xmlrpc.php file to complement the widget.

In the Apple community, I think the hottest hardware speculations are for the next iBook refresh.  Most of the stuff on thinksecret.org point to a possible June 26th refresh date. I presume the estimates are based upon Apple wanting to generate some press during the National Education Computing Conference starting on June 27th.  Unfortunately for me, I just bought my iBook in March, and would have no reason to upgrade to a new one yet.  Unless of course I can convince my wife that she needs an iBook over a Mac Mini… which really shouldn’t be too hard.  I think she likes my iBook almost as much as *I* like my iBook.

Anywhoo, the iBooks are overdue for a refresh, and this is what I think they should be bumped up to.

• 512mb RAM (1 stick)
• 60gb Hard Drive
• Display Spanning (not mirroring)

Lately I’ve been looking for a good solution for my Paniris Web Development website.  Historically I’ve been a huge advocate of home-grown solutions, and because of my programming background I always enjoyed creating the site from the ground up.  Lately though I have had the opportunity to play around with some nice open source software (WordPress, Mambo) and have realized that there is a plethora of good software packages out there.  But do they fit my needs?

I want something that’s easy to customize, scalable, and business oriented.  I’ve found WordPress to be very customizable and flexible, but lets face it… its blogging software.  And then there’s Mambo.  I’ve spent countless hours trying to navigate my way through the configuration admin and have been thouroughly disgusted with the lack of user-friendlyness.

I *wish* I could do a home-grown solution for Paniris, but I’m tired of my personal websites going stale while I work on other peoples sites. I will probably resort to using WordPress in the end (which is good news, since I just spent the last 4 hours working on a new theme).

If anyone knows of a good hyrbid solution, drop me a line! 

For all 3 of you out there who are now wondering "What happened to Kyle’s old website?", here is my official explanation. My old site was stale, and I wanted a way to keep my site current with all of my latest thoughts and activities. A blog seemed like the most obvious solution, and I decided WordPress would best suit my needs.  Besides, one of my latest programming projects has been WordPressDash, which is a blogging widget for Apple’s Tiger operating system (OS X 10.4). 

I was tired of the old site anyways.
