I tried them all even the “add math” and Askimet. Most all the comment spam you will get is actually from the bots that scour the Internet looking for security breaches.

Using Comment Bot Nuker it nukes the comments before it is even held for moeration and lets the good comments through. So there is nothing to moderate. I don’t have to go through hundreds of comments held for moderation anymore. I found it here:

I’ve written an explanation of how to hide the URL of the script that processes the comment form in an external JavaScript file, and then write the URL only when a human visitor wants to submit a comment. The bots never see the URL.

It’s more complicated than a simple plugin. You need to be comfortable editing HTML and creating .js files, but this complexity also makes it more effective.

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article, but it sounds interesting

I tracked back the affiliate ID to the affiliate program and reported it to their administrators. Time consuming but they said they were not in support of this activity and would handle the offender. He should get kicked out of his affiliate program which will hit him right in the nuts - after all I’m working for him deleting his comments and he’s not paying me for my time.

It’s easy to do just click on his link and find out what programs he’s promoting - then track that back to the affiliate program manager.

It’s basically simple - if they are allowing their affiliates to spam blogs, then
they are spammers themselves, once it has been brought to their attention.

They don’t want this label so they usually will handle it.

Obviously I can’t do this for everyone, but I will randomly - especially for gambling and pharmaceuticals which I will never ever promote.

I do need a mechanical tool to remove this annoying phenomena since I don’t have time to be a full time anti spam campaigner.
